Is it me, or are relations between the people and the governments of both Canada and the USA worsening?
I have several pieces of circumstantial evidence:
– the Booing of the Canadian anthem at New York Islanders and Detriot Red Wings home games last week – the Canadian knee-jerk reaction to the US bombing of Canadian troops in Afghanistan – a recent 60 Minutes broadcast describing Canada as a haven for Al Quaeda and other terrorists – resentment over the softwood lumber tariff imposed by the US (which I would suppose is hardly a blip on the radar in the US)
I don’t think it’s useful to discuss specific causes of this, but are we truly getting along? Does globalization draw people together or give them more reasons to hate one another?
