I absolutely SUCK. For the second year in a row I forgot about the Perseids, which I normally like to view by driving out into the middle of nowhere, far from city lights, and just watching the light show..

Every year during the summer the Earth passes through a vast asteroid belt of mostly small, harmless objects less than 1 foot in diameter. The light show peaks between August 12-14. One summer we counted around 150 of them streaking across the sky inside of an hour.

If I had gone this year I would also have seen the Northern Lights on full display thanks to a big solar ejection a few days ago.

Shit!
