She’d never move to Columbus.

Changes need to start at the top. Nonis’ neck should certainly be on the block. Bringing Burke back to replace him “may” be a start. Who else is there that would want to come? Burke’s wife still practices in Vancouver, and they both love the city.

Next. Luongo has two years left on his contract. The Canucks (hopefully Burke) needs to sign him to a 3-4 year extension. In order for this to happen, management needs to show Luongo that real changes will be made in order to build a team in front of him. From Luongo’s side, he needs to get his personal life sorted out and move the family to Vancouver. (I dont know about you but if I picked up a deal for $7.5MM a year, my wife would move to any NHL city in the world – and that includes Ottawa!)

If Luongo signs and extension then you have to start making some moves. Naslund has to go. Dont know what you could get for him. He may just go back to EU. How many teams have won the Stanley Cup over the last 20 years with a Captain from Europe. Point made. (Ask yourself how many of those Captains came from BC?). The big move is really to trade the Sedin Sisters. Great players, lots of memorable moments but they need a new start… and so do the Canucks.

Now, if you CAN NOT sign Luongo to an extension you TRADE Luongo. That’s right. If he is not prepared to sign it either means he is not convinced the team can be a contender or his wife simply will not give up the residence in Florida. Either way, if his head / heart is not 110% here, then he should ship out. You would get 3 maybe 5 great players for him, and start dealing for a goalie. If Calgary can pull Cujo out of the V-Cup (and Cujo has played well) we can find another goalie.

Lots of work to do. So the sooner they make changes the better. Perhaps it is the sweat smell of one of Burke’s fine cigars that is the only thing that can remove the 07/08 stench.
