Besides, the Frontbridge acquisition was made by the Exchange business specifically, who on some level are competing with Hotmail. And finally, it’s clear the Exchange team were looking for a managed service / hosted solution, whereas Brightmail is a gateway solution. But having said all of that, I don’t disagree that goog were driven by archiving and compliance; I’m just less sure about Microsoft.
